We are a family farm located in Effingham county where the stars shine almost every night…
Years in Development
Devoted to generations of hard work
We are the 5th generation to work this farm. The first generations were almost exclusively dependent on farming as their livelihood. By the time the 3rd - 4th generation came about, there was little interest in farming, they headed to the city of Savannah for work.
As we started down the road on developing the long forgot about fields and timberland, we decided early on to start preparing for organic farming. See our timeline.
Further Inspiration
We were fortunate to meet Starl Rodney (Rod) Pittman. Starl and organics were amazing to watch. A gentleman who woke up everyday with a passion for organic growing. Rod paid decades of allegiance to understanding and applying nature’s processes to growing many types of crops.
Today we are Starland Organics
With respect to prior generations and following Rod’s example of reverence to organic growing, we are into our 2nd year of organic growing. The 1st year was a school of hard knocks, lol. But we were able to gather enough knowledge and determination to further our quest to build systems and patterns for scaling into a viable organic farm.
